Malerie was surrounded by music as a young child and picked up the piano at the age of three. At five, she was introduced to the harp and immediately fell in love. Along with private lessons she grew as a musician through participation in youth orchestras, harp ensembles, volunteer work in church, retirement and nursing homes as well as weddings, receptions and other events.
In high school, Malerie had the privilege of studying under Dr. Christine Vivona at Arizona State University. Upon graduating high school she was accepted into Brigham Young University’s School of Music. There she received private instruction, played in university orchestras and ensembles and graduated with a BA in music. She was also a regular entertainer at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
Over the years and in different cities across the U.S., she has continued her work as a freelance harpist, playing for a variety of private and corporate events and maintaining a private teaching studio. Malerie now resides in Spokane with her family and most recently enjoyed teaching harp at Whitworth University as an adjunct professor.
The harp has always been a big part of Malerie’s life. She has found much joy in sharing this unique gift and watching music lift and inspire others.

weddings
Whether you want to create a mood with background music for a reception or cocktail hour, or make a grand entrance down the aisle to a classic processional, the harp will provide a beautiful and unique backdrop for this most important day. Malerie will work with your individual style and requests to create a musical package that suits you.
Events
Malerie’s knowledge of music includes a wide range of styles including classical, religious, seasonal, pop, romantic, Celtic and show tunes. For background music during events such as receptions, luncheons, open houses, or corporate events, Malerie provides a tasteful combination of different styles, an ideal backdrop for any special occasion. She will gladly tailor the musical selections to fit with your desires for your event.
Private Lessons
Lessons are available on both pedal and lever harps to students of all ages and abilities. If you are interested in taking harp lessons, contact Malerie to set up an initial lesson, free of charge, to discuss interests, musical experience, and teaching methods.
Lesson fees are $30 per half hour.
rates
Wedding Packages start at $400. Background music starts at $250. Rates depend on a variety of factors including mileage for locations outside of the Spokane area, the type and length of event and specific requests to learn new music.
